RED TRAVEL – EPISODE 2

Hey guys! Delighted to share episode 2 of our online travel show Red Travel. This week, we went East! We started the day with a walk on the beautiful Red Barn beach in Youghal. Next up was a visit to the Youghal Clock Gate Tower. I regularly pass through Youghal and under this clock tower and I never knew you could go up and explore it’s history and stories throughout the years. I went for a guided tour to learn all about it’s history. The clock tower is a unique building in Ireland’s Ancient East that holds many stories – stories of pain, tragedy and rebellion, but also stories of love, friendship and generosity.  Each floor tells a different time in the clock tower – from when it was a prison, a merchant’s storeroom and a home but one thing ties it all together – the clock was wound throughout it all. Adult tickets are €9.50 and children are €5. For all the tour times and prices, check out their website here.

Next stop was to meet the wonderful Tony of Blackwater Cruises. Tony brought us for a trip up the River Blackwater and told us many stories along the way. He is such a character and made me laugh the whole trip. The trip leaves from Youghal jetty and travels North up the River Blackwater. The views are just breathtaking. The tour lasts approximately 90 minutes.  Adults are €20 and children are €10. For more information head over to their website here.

Cycling the Waterford Greenway was on my summer bucket list so I was delighted to experience it with ‘The Greenway Man‘. This new amenity was just opened recently and consists of a world class 46km path along the route of an old railway line from Waterford to Dungarvan and is designed for cycling, walking, running etc. We paid a visit to Durrow  to rent some bikes and head off on the newly opened greenway. We cycled one of the most scenic parts of the route from Durrow to Dungarvan. You can rent bikes for €15 per day for adults and €7 per day for children from The Greenway Man in Durrow.

In the second half of the show, I shared by favourite holiday of all time – island hopping in Croatia. I also met John of SailAweigh.ie who filled us in on his adventures island hopping in Greece.  Sail Aweigh have been taking groups to Croatia and Greece since 2008, sometimes they even go a few times a year. It is a great week of relaxation, enjoyment, sun and sailing. The best part about it is that you can be a complete beginner and still go. You dont need any experience as you have a extremely knowledgeable skipper on-board. You learn as you go along. Sail Aweigh caters for all abilities and you improve your sailing throughout the week, whether you are a beginner or a little more experienced.  1000 unspolt islands and warm turquoise seas make it a holiday of a lifetime. For more information on the next trip, head over to SailAweigh.ie.

So there you have it… the second episode of RedTravel. We hope you enjoyed it. Coming up next week we are heading off the beaten track on a very exciting roadtrip! We are starting the day with a walk in Farran Woods before heading on to try Zipit Forrest adventures… I can already feel my legs shaking with the heights!! We are then driving onto Crookstown to go on a trek with Lee Valley Equestrian Centre. We are ending the day with something a little different… we are meeting Doherty who is going to take us on a guided tour of Macroom Buffalo Farm!! In the second half of the show, we are going to be sharing everything you need to know before heading on your big adventure.
