Hey guys! Welcome back to Red Travel. We are very excited to share with you our next episode of Red Travel. This week, we went off the beaten track on a very exciting road trip! We started the day with a walk in Farran Woods before heading on to try Zipit Forest adventures. I may have started a little shakey… ok very shakey but I soon found my balance!! The blue course was full of obstacles and challenges and a surprise around every corner. Ending with a leap of faith at the very end!! So to zip through the forest… head over zipit.ie and book your adventure now.
We then drove onto Crookstown to go on a trek with Lee Valley Equestrian Centre. A family oriented equestrian centre offering treks and lessons for every rider in the family(even the tiny tots), and some that might even tickle the fancy of the non rider! We went on a small trek and fell in love with the beauty surrounding us. For more information head over to their website here.
We ended the day doing something completely different, we met Doherty who too us on a guided tour of Macroom Buffalo Farm. Macroom Buffalo has Ireland’s first and only herd of of milking water Buffalo. The Farm is owned by Buffalo farmer Johnny and his wife Geraldine. They produce a variety of cheeses including Mozzarella, Greek style salad cheese and Haloumi. You may know Johnny from the recent Aldi ad on TV – sitting on the buffalo!! Well, we even met the man who trained the buffalo to allow Johnny to sit on him – his son. What I loved about this tour, it was a real family business. Johnny’s son showed us around and gave us his story of growing up on the Buffalo farm and shared all his stories on how he got to know each one. We also got to taste of all the cheese at the end of the day which was the perfect end to the day. For an experience to remember be sure to pay a visit to Macroom Buffalo Farm’s website here.
In the second half of the show, we share everything you need to know before heading on your big adventure. We were joined by Aimee and Breffney who filled us in on their adventures backpacking and shared all their insider tips. I just want to book a flight and go now after chatting over coffee to the girls!!
So that’s it for this week of Red Travel… Coming up next week we are heading to Tayto Park where we are going share with you all the insider tips. And, of course, we will test out a few of the rides for you!! We are also trying something completely different and heading glamping with Rock Farm Slane. In the second half of the show, we are also going to bring you across the water to US of A. We are going to be filling you in on our America Top Tips – what flights to book and where to go. We will also be sharing our top things to do in the windy city of Chicago.
See you then,
Steph
