10 Staycation Finds – Take 4

It’s Monday so it’s time for our forth edition of our Staycation Finds. Today we are allowed to go within our county so hopefully staycations aren’t too far away. It’s no harm to get planning for the summer ahead and staycations will be the way to go this summer. Ireland has amazing places to explore and extremely unique gems to stay in that will take your breath away. This week, we have found some very unique gems… OnTheQT Style! Here are 10 Staycation Finds – TAKE 4!

1) Sunriser Nordic Cabin Sea & Forest Escape

This Nordic coastal cabin is the unique staycation you are looking for. A private pathway to your cabin of luxury which is nestled between the ocean and forest. A peaceful retreat just 10 minutes from Gorey. Every part of of the cabin is orientated towards its vast viewing window from which you can enjoy stargazing across the night sky, morning sunrises, and storms across the sea all from the comfort of your own bed.

2) Birds Nest on the Dingle Peninsula

This gem is located right on the Dingle Peninsula with the most spectacular views. It reminds you of a birds nest right on the top of the sea. This little hut is surrounded by the sea and nature and is the perfect place to relax, unwind and switch off from the world.

3) Cuckoo Wood Hexagon

Located just 5km from Westport in Mayo, this hexagon is situated on it’s own land which is half orchard and half woodland. A perfect peaceful and unique staycation.

4) Wicklow Head Lighthouse

This gem is perfect for someone who wants to escape from the hustle and bustle of life and gain some peace. Experience a stay in an 18th-century lighthouse. Take in the beautiful surroundings of the Irish sea and countryside. The lighthouse has 6 octagonal rooms which are careful constructed in the void that existed within the tower when it was first taken on by Irish Landmark.

You will get to experience that traditional lighthouse with its arched windows set in walls which are a meter or more thick. Enjoy some seal spotting along the coast, explore a secret stony beach with an old limekiln and much more. It may be 109 steps to the kitchen but it will be a truly memorable and unique experience. 5) The Birdbox

I think this gem has to be on of the most unique places to stay in Ireland. The Birdbox in Donegal. The Birdbox is a cosy, handcrafted treehouse and it is nestled in the branches of beautiful mature oak and scots pine trees. As you look out the front you have spectacular views towards Glenveagh National Park. If you are looking for a unique and fun, yet peaceful getaway, this is the gem for you.

The layout is pretty cool. Measuring approximately 3.5 x 2.3 metres on the ground floor. It then has a 30 metre walk along a stepped wooden walkway as you go through mature trees to the decking area of the treehouse and the last five meters is accessed by a rope bridge. 6) The Doll’s House – Rathaspeck Manor

If you are looking for a getaway that is like a fairytale, this Doll’s House is for you, located in beautiful Wexford. The colourful and playful nature of the house is seen throughout and the personality of the Doll’s House is reflected all over the house. The attention to detail with carefully selected treasures can been seen in every nook and cranny of the house.

If you are looking for a luxurious couples only Glamping gem in Killarney with spectacular views of the Kerry Mountains then you’ve come to the right place. A peaceful, romantic getaway awaits you.

What I love about this gem is that you have the option of staying in a luxurious treehouse, a vintage caravan, a quirky yurt or even a cosy cottage. You are also within 10 minutes drive from beautiful beaches such as Mullaghmore so you can pop for a swim, a walk or even a surf if your feeling adventurous.
