Top Tips – Vietnam!

Blogger: Lauren Lucy Crowley

Vietnam is a place you must simply visit once in a life time! With delicious cuisine, extremely friendly people and glorious sunshine… there is little not to love about this unique gem of a country! We had a wonderful time exploring and so we’re excited to share our top tips with you guys!

Live at a home stay: I couldn’t recommend going to live at a home stay more! Whether its for one night or 2 weeks, it is an incredible experience and a brilliant way to get an insight into Vietnamese culture.  We chose to go to Mai Châu, which is a rural district of Hòa Bình Province in the Northwest region of Vietnam. The district is located at about 160 km from Ha Noi. We stayed in a treehouse at a home called – Mai Chau Nature place. We were greeted with a traditional dance, shown our pretty treehouse beds, before we headed off on a tour of the local area on our mopeds! It was fantastic!

Visit Mui Ne: There are a lot of bustling noisy cities in Vietnam, and so an escape to a chill out beach town was just what we were looking for! Having asked a few locals for their advice, we decided to head for a beautiful hide away town on the coast called Mui Ne.Our resort was called “Rang garden bungalows”. It was absolutely beautiful! Our room had two queen size beds, it was extremely spacious and all for only 13 euro each per night! The resort had a picturesque pool which opened onto the beach front… it was all we could have wished for and more! We spent the day relaxing on our sun loungers facing the glittering sea, and jumping into the swimming pool behind us to cool down every once in a while! If you’re travelling through Vietnam and looking for a mini getaway to a beachside resort without going too far away… I highly recommend a trip to Mui Ne to recharge and relax!

Sample the local coffee: If you love coffee… you will be very happy in Vietnam! Iced coffees, lattes, oreo coffee, espressos… anything coffee you could dream of… they’ve got it! Often served in a mini cup at a ‘coffee bar’ without miniature outdoor seating where you get to watch the world pass by… simply perfection!

Avail of the free walking tours: There are an abundance of free walking tours around the major cities in Vietnam. Given by locals, and completely  free of charge they are the perfect way to find out the local hidden gems and best spots in town!

Sleep under the stars at Halong Bay: Halong Bay although a well known tourist spot, will simply take your breath away! It is so unique it is unlike anywhere I have ever visited before. Rather than taking a day trip out there I highly recommend sleeping on a boat under the stars so you can catch a sunrise to remember the next morning!

Enjoy your trip to Vietnam, we would LOVE to hear how you’re getting on! x
