While exploring the windy city of Chicago recently, we decided to head to the Skydeck(Willis Tower) on Jackson Boulevard. A local told us that this was the best one to go to(there are two similar buildings you can go to the top of to admire the views). It is so true… the best travel advice you can get is from a local. What a adventure… but not for anybody afraid of heights! Trust us!
We reached a 103 floors high, 1353 feet with views of 50 miles all around and spectacular spanning up to four states. The views were spectacular(a little foggy but still amazing). Windows all around for viewing, then 4 glass window viewing centres (you wouldn’t want to be afraid of heights). Taking that step outside onto the glass on the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere was a little frightening… ok, very frightening!! It took a few times trying to get the courage to take that step… I was so glad I did! At 1,353 feet in the air, the ledge’s glass boxes extends out 4.3 feet from the Skydeck (thankfully… I read that information afterwards!!).
It felt like one of those moments where you want to pitch yourself to remind yourself that this is real life… looking out over the spectacular views of the windy city of Chicago!! It felt like one of those moments that happen once in a lifetime. If this is not on your travel bucket list… be sure to add it!
A leap of faith that is well worth it 🙂
