On The QT

Lanzarote Travel Diary

Hey guys! As many of you know from our social media channels the past week or so, I am just back from the sunny paradise island of Lanzarote. It was an amazing week! I am back to reality now and busy editing all the videos and blog posts to share with you about the trip. I am always on the go and spend a lot of time travelling so I really just wanted a place where I could relax for a few days and ‘try’ to switch off a little. Easier said then done! I love the idea of sitting by the pool and relaxing but after a few hours I get itchy feet and want to go off exploring with my camera. I booked the trip with the help from our wonderful friends at Heffernan’s Travel in Cork.

During our stay, we had the perfect balance of OnTheQT activities and relaxation! We filmed all around Puerto Del Carmen including the beautiful hotel we were staying in – The Fariones Suite Hotel. We also rented a car and explored the island. We did a full vlog(video blog) of our road trip around the island and all the amazing spots we stopped off at.

Where we flew from

Being from Cork, it was great to fly in and out of Cork Airport. Easy to get to and hassle free. We flew with Ryanair and the flight took about 4 hours to Lanzarote.

Where we stayed

We stayed in the beautiful Suite Hotel Fariones Playa in Puerto Del Carmen. It was the perfect hotel suited in between the old town and the new town of Puerto Del Carmen. The pool area was spectacular and right in front of the pool was the beach. It was a little piece of heaven. What I loved about this hotel was its was only 10kms form the airport and surrounded by picturesque beaches, restaurants, shopping areas, fishing harbour and my favourite part… the old style town.

Who we booked with

As you know already, we booked the full trip with our friends at Heffernans Travel(their new website is launching in the next few days so keep an eye out for it). It took all the worry away from us. We booked flights, transfers, hotels… everything! They even checked us in so we didn’t even have the hassle of printing our boarding passes. It was so easy and stress free… just how I like it!!

What we got up to

Well, obviously we had a few days to just relax before I got out the camera and started to film and go on adventures. Here are a few places we explored which will be coming up in our vlogs in the next few weeks.

  • Puerto Del Carmen,
  • The Old Style Town in Puerto Del Carmen (My favourite),
  • Tías Beach, Puerto Del Carmen,
  • Puerto Del Calero – A picturesque marina/seaside town,
  • Mirador Del Río –  Located at an altitude of 474 metres, in the north of the Island,
  • Teguise – The former capital of Lanzarote,
  • The Fire Mountains, Timanfaya National Park,
  • Jameos del Agua – It is part of a 6Km long lava tube which formed about 4,000 years ago when the Montaña La Corona erupted,
  • Arrecife – The capital of Lanzarote,
  • Spanish Cooking class,
  • Quad Biking,
  • And much more!!!
My Favourites from the Trip
  • Sunset at the Old Style Town in Puerto Del Carmen.
  • Dinner at El Sardinero – I learnt how to make a traditional Spanish dish!
  • Tías Beach – What can I say… the beach is always my favourite! This beach was so pretty with the view of the mountains in the background and stretched out for miles. Perfect for some swimming.
  • The Fire Mountains at the Timanfaya Natonal Park – An unbelievable experience.
Stay tuned over the next few weeks for a full update on all the adventures we went on for the week in Lanzarote,
Steph

  1. Me and my better half planned to move to Spain in the Canaries next year. We were thinking about where to move whether Lanzarote or Gran Canaria. But I like Lanzarote more because the place seems wonderful like what I read in this article here in https://www.canaryislandsinfo.co.uk/lanzarote/things-to-do/… . Is there any advice you can give me on this two-island? Thanks!

  2. Me and my friends are planning to go to spain this January. We would love to see some nice beaches with clear water and some stunning scenery. We were thinking Majorca,Ibiza and Canary Island, we are up to some adventures and experience a great nightlife in our travel. I came across this great article too here in https://www.canaryislandsinfo.co.uk/lanzarote/caleta-de-famara/ but i wanted to hear your thoughts first. Can anyone suggest any ideas or tips? Any help is kindly appreciated 🙂

  3. Hi Stephanie!

Loved reading your blogs, just how you tell your experience! My family is going for a holiday vacay in Canary Islands, and we’re staying in Lanzarote for a week. However, we’ve already booked tours from https://www.travelon.world/ and got the Rancho Texas Animal Park, just for the 3 kids to enjoy. 🙂 Can you recommend what other tours to get for a family with 3 kids under 10 years old? Your help is greatly appreciated!

  4. Hi, Thanks for adding a page on your travel diary about the beautiful island. The information on the wonders created by nature around the Timanfaya volcanic park in Lanzarote is amazing. Keep posting.
