The Winery, Clonakilty, Co. Cork

As you may have noticed, I like to spend quite a bit of time in Clonakilty. Yet every time I visit the friendly seaside town, I still manage to find something new… whether its a hidden gift shop, a pretty nearby village, a beautiful new walk or a delicious new restaurant – it really is such an amazing gem of a town in West Cork with so much to offer!

Last week a friend and I took a trip there to celebrate the beautiful sunny Spring weather we seem to be lucky enough to be blessed with. After a walk over the sand dunes on Inchydoney, we went into the town on a mission to feed our growing appetites, (not exactly a difficult mission, given the town is bursting with an array of quaint, interesting, and very welcoming eateries).

We chose to luncheon at the Winery, located on Astna square right in the heart of the town. What an excellent choice we made! I loved everything about the place; the layout, the décor, the friendly staff, and of course the mouth- watering food!

We sat outside doing our utmost to soak up as much of the sun as possible, (I also happen to love any opportunity to dine al fresco!). To  embrace the locality of the area, I decided to order the Clonakilty black pudding salad with sweet potatoe fries…. I can safely say it was the tastiest salad I have ever eaten in my whole life! Absolutely delicious!

With a fantastic menu, and an affordable price, I highly recommend a trip there next time you’re passing through the town, whether for lunch, a cup of coffee, or even a glass of wine!

Bon Appetit!

  1. This is the best food in Ireland .

  2. Would have to agree. I travel from Bandon almost everyday just to have what is undoubtedly the best coffee in West Cork. The lunch menu is great, as are Tracy’s scones and mouth-watering home-made cakes. They are now also serving food from Thur-Sat evening. A place for seriously good coffee, food and the best wines. Highly recommended.
