Whilst recently travelling along the Wild Atlantic Way, we stopped over in Lahinch for the night. A small seaside town in Liscannor Bay in Co. Clare, it is one of the best surfing spots in Ireland! We knew we had to try it out and so we were delighted to find Lahinch surf centre surf school along the promenade!
Ollie our instructor was extremely friendly upon arrival – we were dressed in our thermal wetsuits with our boards in hand in no time at all! We had a quick de-briefing and lesson on the sand before entering the icy cold water, although I’m not a very experienced surfer Ollie was very encouraging and full of tips to help us stand up on the board as soon as we were out on the water!
Examining each wave as it approached, Ollie knew exactly when to catch them! He pushed us along, and we did our very best to stand up as we headed towards the shore! Despite a few tumbles, twists and turns we eventually both stood up! #Missionaccomplished
The time flew out on the water… I guess time flies when you’re having fun! We headed back in delighted with our achievements and couldn’t believe it when we heard there was a sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi for us to use at the leisure centre! Situated right next to the surfing kiosk, all surfers can avail of the centre after to warm up! What an excellent perk!
We relaxed in the Jacuzzi for a while before hitting the road to continue our adventures! What an excellent start to our day, we’re already excited to return and improve our surfing skills! x
