On The QT

Milford Sound, New Zealand

Whilst Milford Sound is known around the world for its beauty, a trip combined with a stay in Gunn’s Camp will make it a truly OnTheQT experience.

Milford Sound in the heart of the Fiordland National Park is by definition a fiord rather than a sound. Its beauty however is unquestionable. The journey is nearly as spectacular as the destination. Even the rain couldn’t spoil this landscape adding hundreds of temporary waterfalls cascading off the mountains. You too might get lucky with the sun making an appearance.

Access to Milford Sound is through Homer Tunnel along the Te Anu road. Located close to the tunnel is Gunn’s Camp. Originally built to house the tunnel construction men and their families back in the 1930s not much has changed. You too can stay in hut without electricity, stoking the fire to keep yourself warm. You’ll be certainly rewarded for your labour though with glow worms just a short work away. For a different stay on your New Zealand travels it’s well worth a visit.
