Island Hopping in Croatia: Kukljica

Blogger: Stephanie Lynch

Our first stop island hopping with Sail Aweigh in Croatia was Kukljica.  Kukljica is a picturesque fishing village, located on the southeast of the island of Ugljan. The spot is surrounded by dense pine forests, many sandy and rocky beaches on the shores of crystal clear sea. The port which we came into is a sheltered and protected natural bay and the perfect spot for an overnight exploration.

The harbour was full of fishing and pleasure boats, yachts and sailing ships. We went on a small walk and a swim along the sand beaches of the coasts. The pine trees on your left as you walk along and the sandy coast with turquoise water on your right – what more could you want.

You all know us, we love our food here at OnTheQT. For us, the pizza, fish and ice-cream were our top choices for food in Croatia. The pizzas were just beautiful, the fish freshly caught and the ice cream – oh the ice cream was the cherry on top of the cake. All types of flavours – our favourite was the Kinder Bueno ice cream. Yummy!!

Top tips for Kukljica:

  1. You have to try the ice cream – Kinder Bueno ice cream is the best
  2. Great spot for swimming off the sandy cost(wear water shoes Croatia has lots of sea urchins which you do not want to stand on – Trust us)
  3. Great walk up through the forest with the crystal clear coast to your right as you walk up.
