Whilst recently on our Wild Atlantic Way road trip we travelled down into beautiful South Kerry to the coastal village of Derrynane! A stunning area with a picturesque back drop, we knew we were going to enjoy our visit! We took a trip to Derrynane Sea Sports, which is in fact the oldest watersports centre on the Ring of Kerry!
Nestled in behind the main beach, Derrynane Sea sports is located on its very own stretch of sand, with breath taking views out onto the Atlantic Ocean! We were greeted with open arms by Helen (who owns the centre), before we got changed into our wetsuits and made the difficult decision of what activities to try out! We were spoilt for choice with sailing, wind surfing, paddle boarding, kayaking and much more to choose from!
We decided to go sailing – which was an excellent choice! With the help of one of the centres trained and very friendly instructors we sped up and down the waterfront ensuring to catch the wind at the perfect time! As we sailed along I admired the sun setting behind the mountains which surrounded us… the centre is without a doubt one of the most picturesque watersports centres I have ever visited!
We decided to try out paddle boarding also! Although a little wobbly on the boards to begin with we soon got the hang of it and had great fun racing each other!
With kids, pirate and teen camp running all summer and watersport equipment hire & instruction available you’ll be sure to find just what you’re looking for at the wonderful beachfront centre! Hope you enjoy your trip there as much as we did! x
