Cycling through Killarney National Park!

Here at #OnTheQT we love nothing more than to go on an outdoor adventure, and so we were only delighted to arrive in Killarney on the hottest day of the year so far and head out for a cycle at the stunning National Park in Killarney.

Not only does the park have Muckross Estate, an open Farm,  the gorgeous Torc Waterfall, and the stunning lakes of Killarney to admire… the park has an abundance of cycling trails that take you deep into the wilderness!

Located just outside the town of Killarney, the National Park is the first of it kind in Ireland. Now stretching over 100km through diverse ecology and mountain ranges, the park is extra special due to having the only native herd of red deer in Ireland, and the most extensive covering of native forest in the country!

We chose the Muckross-Dinis loop for our cycle which is approx. 20km in length. This took us around Muckross Lake, which is the middle lake of the 3 lakes of Killarney. We cycled down to admire Muckross house and its surroundings before heading to the cycle path marked for Dinis cottage and the Old Weir bridge. With a few secluded inlets along the way for a pitstop, plenty scenery to admire, and a small shop for refreshments it was the perfect route on a glorious day!

We cant wait to return to explore some of the other routes!
