Episode 1: ‘Ballycotton’ Ring of Cork Travel Series

Welcome to the Ring of Cork travel series. Over the next few weeks we are going to bring you with us as we explore the beauty, adventure and fun along the Ring of Cork. The Ring of Cork is the spectacular East Cork route that captures family fun, adventure breaks, historic trails, romantic getaways, sports, beach walks, spa breaks and so much more. We are going to immerse ourselves in history, culture and adventure and create lots of memories along the way. This is our first ever episode of the Ring of Cork travel series. In this episode, we explored the beautiful Ballycotton. We started the day walking along the Ballycotton Cliff walk and ended the day out on the water with Ballycotton Sea Adventures.

Ballycotton is around 45 minutes from Cork City. A picture-perfect fishing village in East Cork overlooking Ballycotton Bay with stunning beaches. The Ballycotton Cliff Walk is known for it’s spectacular scenery and wildlife. The cliff walk is spread out over 5 miles along a worn path around the cliff. Just remember it is not a looped walk so you will have to come back the same way but I don’t think you will mind because it is absolutely breath-taking.

Next, we went to meet Eddie from Ballycotton Sea Adventures and headed out on the water for a guided tour around Ballycotton island and the magnificent coastline. The boat trip takes approximately 15 minutes each way and the tour of the island and the lighthouse is approximately 1 hour. Ballycotton Lighthouse Island is a wild, natural and unspoiled experience and one to add to your bucket list. Eddie was actually a lighthouse keep years ago and shared with us his experiences and memories throughout the tour. Check out the episode to hear his spectacular stories here.

What a great start to the series. A day full of adrenaline and adventure. Every Monday at 7:30pm we will be sharing a new episode from The Ring of Cork Travel series. Join us next week when we will be checking out some family fun at Trabolgan, exploring Roches Point and some beautiful beaches in East Cork. See you then!

We are delighted to collaborate and work with the Ring of Cork on this series.
