Having spent two weeks on tropical sunshine islands, I was excited to take a trip to a city… Singapore was the perfect destination! There is something so exciting about hopping off a plane and exploring a whole new place! From quirky ethnic neighbourhoods and world class museums to historic temples it is the perfect pit-stop en route from Europe to Australia!
We were lucky enough to be staying right in the heart of the hustle and bustle, with our accommodation in very close proximity to Chinatown, so of course this was our first stop! Although a little more expensive than other Chinatowns we had gone to visit, it was still a very enjoyable experience with delicious food, pretty souvenirs and a giant splash of Chinese culture to embrace!
Our next stop was Orchard road which felt like a winter wonderland as it was so beautifully decorated for the festive season! If you’re looking for a shopping destination…you’ll be in heaven with an abundance of fancy shopping malls full of every designer brand you could imagine!
We took a trip to Clarkes Quay for some lunch which is definitely worth a visit, with an array of delicious waterside restaurants to refuel before you continue to explore! (OntheQT tip: this spot is particularly fun on a Sunday!)
During our stay, we also took a trip to the famous Raffles hotel, a beautiful white landmark colonial hotel open since 1887! Where Singapore Slings cocktails were first made, its no wonder the hotel is frequently occupied by celebrity guests.
Other fun things to do in Singapore (if you have more time) include:
- Singapore Zoo,
- Pretty Sentosa,
- The botanic Gardens,
- Indoor Skydiving!
- Sail to offshore islands from Marina South Pier,
- Museum hopping!
