The Waterford Greenway

Cycling the Waterford Greenway was on my bucket list for ages and I recently got to experience it with the friendly ‘The Greenway Man‘. This new amenity was just opened recently and consists of a world class 46km path along the route of an old railway line from Waterford to Dungarvan and is designed for cycling, walking, running etc. We paid a visit to Durrow to rent some bikes and head off on the newly opened greenway. We cycled one of the most scenic parts of the route from Durrow to Dungarvan.

Where to Rent Bikes

Garvan from The Greenway Man is the person to rent your bikes from. You can rent the bikes from his base at Mahony’s Pub in Durrow Co. Waterford. Garvan has had a long involvement in campaigning for The Waterford Greenway and can provide visitors with information and insights from his experience.

Costs

Bikes are available for adults and children. You can rent bikes for €15 per day for adults and €7 per day for children from The Greenway Man in Durrow.

Our Recommendations

We would highly recommend cycling from Durrow to Dungarvan if you are looking to do a very scenic part of the Waterford Greenway. If you are cycling with kids, this is a great section to cycle. You could also stop off in Dungarvan for a coffee or ice-cream before the cycle back.
