Blogger: Stephanie Lynch

Recently, we went on a road trip in Co. Antrim and we actually just stumbled upon the famous Dark Hedges. We had heard lots about this road and as we were so close… well we just had to check it out for ourself. This is one of the most photographed natural phenomena in Northern Ireland. This highly acclaimed avenue of ancient beech trees has been voted one of the top 5 most beautiful tree tunnels in the world.

The trees were planted in the 18th century by the Stuart family. Originally this tree tunnel was intended as a entrance to a Georgian Mansion, Gracehill House. It is truly amazing to see that two centuries later, the trees still remain in their beauty.

People drive to see this beautiful tunnel and even more people want to visit since it was used in the Game of Thrones as the King’s Road. We can see how it was chosen for a The Game of Thrones… it is a magnificent beauty.
