Sandwich Boardwalk, Cape Cod

Blogger: Stephanie Lynch

As many of you already know, Cape Cod always has a special place in my heart. I call it my home away from home! Recently, while on a trip to the USA, I got the chance to experience a fall weekend on the Cape with family and friends. Cape Cod is always beautiful but there was just something extra special about seeing Cape Cod in the fall. One of my ultimate favourite places on Cape Cod has always been the Sandwich Boardwalk and I visit it every time I visit. It is a place which holds lots of happy memories for me. Memories of swimming, jumping off the boardwalk, crab fishing, kayaking, jumping the waves, along with long walks along the boardwalk and beach with family and friends.

The boardwalk is surrounded by nature and is the perfect spot for peace and tranquility, while also capturing the fun element for beach goers! It says a picture speaks a thousand words and I think you couldn’t take a bad picture at the boardwalk. No matter what way you point the camera, you capture the unspoiled 360 degree views all around.

The Sandwich Boardwalk is built over low dunes and Mill Creek. The boardwalk was destroyed by Hurricane Bob in 1991 and the local community purchased the planks of wood to rebuild the walk and engraved the names and special messages on each plank of wood. It is now my favourite part of the boardwalk. As you walk along, you can read all the meaningful messages. Beautiful memories all along it.

As you walk along the Sandwich Boardwalk to the shoreline, you find a platform looking over the bay. On a clear day, you can see all the way to Provencetown(the very tip top of Cape Cod).

This spot is one of my favourite places in the world.. nothing beats a walk along the boardwalk or the sandy beach. If you find yourself in this area on your travels, put it on your list to visit! It is one of the most beautiful spots in the world.

Happy Travels,

Steph
