I recently spend a weekend at the palatial Parknasilla Resort and Spa hotel… it is a haven for repose and relaxation, the ultimate escape from the everyday stress life can sometimes be! With its opulent décor and lavish paintings, this enchanting hotel has captured the imagination of its guests for generations. The resort has a rich heritage dating back to 1692, attracting such literary luminaries as George Bernard Shaw to its beautiful location overlooking Kenmare Bay.
The resort covers almost 500 acres in total, it is therefore no surprise guests have an abundance of activities to choose from during their stay! Whether you wish to paddle in the ocean, play tennis, or partake in a round of golf… you wont be lacking in activity ideas!
During my stay, I decided to indulge and take a trip to “The Spa”. Spoilt for choice with their extensive range of treatments I eventually chose a lava shell relaxation massage, coupled with a rejuvenating facial….. I can safely say I felt like a new person after the 90 minutes,it was as relaxing as it sounds! Wrapped up in my snow white fluffy gown, I headed towards the comprehensive thermal suite, which consisted of a herb sauna, a salt inhalation room, an aromatherapy steam room, a laconium, a beautiful 18 metre swimming pool and by far my favourite… an outdoor Jacuzzi with an absolutely remarkable view! As I sat in the warm bubbly Jacuzzi looking out over the Atlantic Ocean… I truly felt as though I had escaped into a fairytale world!
Although there are bicycles available to rent, I highly recommend exploring the idyllic grounds on foot, there are multiple different hiking trails to choose from! I adored wandering through the untouched wooded trails , and exploring the surrounds of the hotel in the glorious sunshine!
If you’re a food lover, the dining experience at the Pygmalion Restaurant is a must. With outstanding service levels, and a superlative menu, it is a truly satisfying experience.
I am already looking forward to returning to this blissful resort situated just 10 minutes outside Sneem. I have no doubt the wonderful staff at Parknasilla look forward to welcoming you there also! x
