Barcelona really is a city that never ceases to amaze… just when we thought we had seen it all, we heard about a magic fountain show… free of charge and open to the public! Life doesn’t get much better than this! 🙂
We weren’t sure what to expect, but when we arrived and began to watch…… I was genuinely amazed! The show is a spectacular display of colour, light, motion, music and water acrobatics, and when they mixed these elements it was absolutely stunning!
The magic fountain (Font mĂ gica de MontjuĂŻc in Spanish) held its first performance was on May 19, 1929! Over 3000 workers were commissioned to work on the project, less than 1 year later the magic fountain was born, and has been bringing smiles to peoples faces ever since!
It is held every Thursday through until Sunday in a large open space which gives people room to sit down with their families and watch from a distance! There were people of all ages there… young, old, children and adults….. all looking onwards in awe as the water danced to the music!
We had such an enjoyable evening there, the magic fountain is definitely a “must see” when you go to Barcelona, I highly recommended it! x
