On The QT

Day Four: OnTheQT Wild Atlantic Way Roadtrip!

Here at OnTheQT we love nothing more than a fun road trip… and so we could barely contain our excitement as our trip along the Wild Atlantic Way approached!  Although it’s great fun to hop on a plane and explore exotic places half way across the world… more often than not we forget to explore what’s right in front of us! Over five days we travelled the first section of the 2,500km route along the Western seaboard! It was simply spectacular! We’ve put together our action packed itinerary for each day so you can follow in our footsteps!

Skellig Chocolates: Our first stop of the day was at the delicious Skellig Chocolates Factory. Overlooking St. Finians Bay, and stocked to the brim with every type of handmade chocolate you could possibly imagine, a trip here for some tasty treats is an absolute must! We were lucky enough to take a trip behind the scenes where we watched the rich velvety chocolate being made… white, milk, dark…even pink chocolate!  My taste buds were tingling as I treated them with unusual flavours and fusions! We were absolutely blown away by the beautiful personalised gift we made from one of the talented chocolatiers! What a magical place! (www.skelligschocolate.com).

Jacks’ Coastguard Restaurant: Our next stop was at Jacks’ coastguard restaurant one of the top seafood speciality restaurants in Kerry. Known for its award-winning dining experience, we couldn’t wait to sample the menu! With freshly caught seafood prepared to absolute perfection… it was an experience to remember! The mussels were most definitely the tastiest I have ever tried! (www.jackscromane.com)

Sol Y Sombra: Onto Killorglin we went where we wandered around to see what the town had to offer. We popped into Sol Y Sombra, a very unique and quirky tapas bar located in an old church…. what a spectacular venue! We sampled the finest of local ingredients with a Spanish twist combined with some craft beer and fine wines… it was the perfect food fusion! (www.solysombra.ie)

The Strand: Headed further West we arrived at the infamous Inch Beach. We had great fun testing our driving skills on the shore before checking into the adjacent Strand Hotel for the night! With a range of different accommodation on offer and a tasty restaurant its the perfect place to relax for the evening! We treated ourselves to a deliciously creamy Irish coffee to celebrate another day of adventures! We enjoyed them over the outdoor fire pit as we watched on at the evening surfers catching the last of the days waves! #perfection
