As you know, we have fallen in love with beautiful Antrim. We recently spent a weekend up there and packed the bikes this time! A weekend cycling the hills of county Antrim. We headed off on a day trip cycling on Saturday and Sunday to explore on our bikes. You couldn’t get a nicer spot to cycle. As you turn each corner, you are met with the beautiful landscape and beauty(and of course hills…lots and lots of hills!!!).
On our cycle, we stumbled upon The Dark Hedges. This is one of the most photographed natural phenomena in Northern Ireland. This highly acclaimed avenue of ancient beech trees has been voted one of the top 5 most beautiful tree tunnels in the world. The trees were planted in the 18th century by the Stuart family. Originally this tree tunnel was intended as a entrance to a Georgian Mansion, Gracehill House. It is truly amazing to see that two centuries later, the trees still remain in their beauty. People drive to see this beautiful tunnel and even more people want to visit since it was used in the Game of Thrones as the King’s Road. We can see how it was chosen for a The Game of Thrones… it is a magnificent beauty.
A beautiful, adventurous day… what better way to explore a little off the beaten track!
