The sunshine is here and there is no better place in the world than Ireland on a summers day! Here at #OnTheQT we love to make the most of the good weather by heading to the coast and taking a plunge into the Atlantic Ocean! Here are some of our favourite swimming spots in Ireland! We would love to hear yours! 🙂
The Glens Pier, Ballinskelligs: There is something so childlike about jumping off a pier in Ireland…. pshyching yourself up… ensuring your companions aren’t going to back out…. doing the countdown…. taking the leap… thinking “what am I doing” for that split second in the air… before crashing with a sore splash into the icy cold salt water! While spending some time in Ballinskelligs recently, we set off on an adventure in the car, having spotted a small brown signpost for Glens pier – down what looked like a dead-end, we decided to investigate. The road was narrow, windy and steeped downward, little did we know what an amazing hidden gem was waiting for us at the end of the road!
Nohoval Cove: Nohoval Cove, is a small inlet surrounded by cookie-cutter cliffs and gleaming dark caves in South Cork. There might be a better thing to do on a sunny evening than launch a kayak off the small private beach at the cove and head east along the coast. It’s just that I haven’t found out what it is yet! 🙂 #paradise
Red Strand: A few week’s ago, OnTheQT spent a lovely weekend in Clonakilty. We decided to do a little exploring around the area and stumbled upon Red Strand Beach, located in a horseshoe bay near Rosscarbery in County Cork. What a beautiful beach with soft sand at your feet. Its a super spot for swimming and surfing alike!
Ballyquin beach: Tide pools, rock fishing and beautiful sand are just some of the gems of Ballyquin beach that makes it a QT favourite!  Located just 1km off the R673 4km northeast of Ardmore,  (Tip: A small signpost will point you in the direction but be on the lookout for it…it is off the beaten track), it is the perfect spot for an evening swim during the summer!
