Enormous Shanghai with its bright city lights, (on China’s central coast), is the country’s biggest city and a global financial hub. Its heart is the Bund which is a famed waterfront promenade lined with colonial-era buildings, wonderful to admire! Across the Huangpu River rises Pudong’s futuristic skyline, including the 632m Shanghai Tower and the Oriental Pearl TV Tower!
Luckily our accommodation was in the heart of the city and so we spent our trip wandering the nearby bustling streets embracing the atmosphere! We sampled delicious food at the local restaurants (Chinese food in China is simply delicious) and browsing at the Christmas markets drinking mulled wine… yummy!
The French concession was probably my favourite area; a cute neighbourhood of cafes, restaurants, and shops in Shanghai’s Jingan area! It was simply beautiful to walk around for the evening tasting delicious velvety ice-cream, and delicious dark chocolate at the market stalls admiring the architecture!
Other fun things to do in Shanghai include: shopping on Nanjing road, visiting the peoples square, taking a trip to the Yu garden, and the Jade Buddha temple! I assure you, you wont run out of ideas for things to do!
