On The QT

Safari Adventure

OnTheQT is exploring Scotland for a few days for all our QT followers. We stumbled upon a great adventure park worth exploring for both our little and older QT adventurers. A safari style adventure park. As we drove through the countryside in Stirling, we found a small entrance to a world of adventure. Little did we know, we would experience something we could only have imagined experiencing in Scotland. Not only is the  Blair Drummond Safari & Adventure Park a wildlife park full of adventure, shows and unique animals but it is also a safari style wildlife centre. Part of the park allows you to drive through the wild animal reserve and see the unique, wild animals from your car without being behind a fence. From camels, rhinos and even LIONS. Yes, we were about 2 feet away from a lion as he crossed right in front of the car.  From the Wildlife Animal Reserves to the Adventure Playground and many more attractions, there is plenty of fun and excitement for all the family. All little kids love animals but what makes this park even better is they have a petting zoo which allows the kids to get up close with some of their favourite animals. They get to feed, pet and admire the lovely animals in the petting zoo. From horses, pigs, goats and much more.

Now this place is far from your typical zoo. One part of the day that we loved were the shows which take place throughout the day. As you see, we had to take a little short video clip from the seal show to allow you to see the amazing shows that take place for yourself. The seal show was just amazing, only the seals that want to take part do and they put on quite a show for the audience. Another show which we attended was the birds of prey show. This was spectacular as we learned about all the unique birds and got to watch them fly in the open, across the most spectacular view of the lake.

Not only is there a petting zoo, shows and a safari but they offer lots more at the park. All included in the price of your ticket is a boat trip up the river to see the monkeys on an island, pedal boats, the flying fox(zipline) and lots more. There are also some amusements in the park which you purchase tokens to use. We tried the boat trip and it was just amazing. The boat driver was extremely knowledgeable on the animals and the shadows on the water from the fall trees as you went up the river was just spectacular.

The highlight of the day for OnTheQT had to be the safari trip. You take your car through the wild animal reserve and get to see the animals up close and moving around freely. Zebras, camels, deer, rhinos, bison, ostriches and much more. The most memorable for us had to be the tigers. As we drove through, a tiger walked right in front of the car which allowed us to be 2 feet away from him. This is definitely an experience you only have once in a lifetime and it is something we will never forget.
