As you may know from the OnTheQT snapchat and social media sites, I spent the weekend in Killarney. Last minute trips are always the best. We hopped in the car Saturday afternoon and ended up in Killarney for the weekend! A weekend full of rest and relaxation.. just what I needed! The drive down towards Killarney was simply beautiful… the blue sky and sunshine made everything look stunning.
We arrived just in time to Killarney for a short walk around Killarney National Park and to watch the sunset over the mountains. Picture Perfect!
We checked into the Muckross Park and Spa Hotel in Killarney. It is located out the Muckross road and across the way from Killarney National Park. A hotel full of luxury and the perfect weekend getaway.
We checked in and headed straight for the spa. The spa decor takes inspiration from the solitude and peaceful existence of the 15th Century Franciscan Abbey nearby and encourages calm and rest. I could have rested forever on the warm chairs overlooking Bluepool River and a private spa garden. The Spa was truly exceptional. The Vitality Pool and Thermal Area is perfect for any stress release. I came away rested and rejuvenated and ready for reality again.
After a relaxing afternoon, we decided to try Monks Lounge for dinner which is located in the hotel. We ordered the fish and chips and soaked in the festive atmosphere in the hotel. A great evening of good food, wine and music.
The following morning, we got up and went for a long walk in Killarney National Park. The perfect Sunday adventure in the fresh air.
We then went for a walk around Killarney to soak up the festive atmosphere. Of course the last stop was for Murphy’s Ice Cream… you just can’t go to Killarney or Dingle without trying it!!
I came away from the weekend refreshed and ready for reality again. Ready for the busy week ahead!
