Here at OnTheQT, we were lucky enough to spend our New Year’s Eve at the Glenlo Abbey Hotel, just outside of Galway city. It was the perfect off the beaten track location which made you feel like you were in a countryside heaven. If you are looking to treat yourself, look no further than this authentic escape. As you enter the gates of Glenlo Abbey, you begin to relax. The hotel itself kept it’s authentic, old style feel with a beautiful decor and stylish finish on the inside. The staff were very helpful and were great to tell us all about the hotel. As you walked around each corner, you found both charm and elegance.
It wouldn’t be the OnTheQT style if we didn’t tell you all about our little find. The hotel also serves as a golf course(which is great if you are a golfing fan) but something we came across was a little stroll around the golf course which made you feel like you were walking down a lane way of an old country road. Swans in the lake, the golf course all around and the view of the abbey in the distance made this walk a very enjoyable time in the fresh air(a great way to start the New Year).
