Byron Bay with its relaxed vibe, hippy culture, tie dye clothes for sale in every shop and friendly locals… felt like home as soon as I hopped off the bus upon arrival to this beautiful town! Although famous for its pristine beaches which are very popular with the local surfers, Byron Bay has plenty more to offer its lucky visitors!
Between trips to the beach, sunset walks along the coastline and enjoying brunch at some of the towns most delicious cafes we took a trip and Byron Bay’s Community Market, held at the Butler Street reserve! Known to be one of the best in the region, we knew we were in for a treat! Covering a large area, the market offers an array of handcrafted wares, locally-grown produce, and artwork of every kind. It’s best to get there as soon as you can, and allow a few hours to take in all the stalls, indulge in some fresh food, fine coffee and culture.
In terms of purchasing food, the market has a variety of stalls, some of which are organic, and other which are conventional local producers. The fresh produce is constantly changing with the seasons; that way the customer is guaranteed fresh produce all year round! Whether its freshly squeezed sugar cane juice and macadamia nuts, or prime cuts of beef and prawns that have been farmed in Ballina, you’ll be sure to satisfy your appetite at the market!
Other fun things to do in Byron Bay include:
- Visit Cape Byron Lighthouse at sunrise,
- Go Tandem skydiving,
- Kayak offshore to visit the nearby dolphins,
- Attend the annual Blues Festival!
Have a super time exploring this beautiful town! Over and out for now x
