If you”re a fan of home and away taking a trip to the beautiful Palm Beach is an absolute must! Locally known as ‘palmy’, the beach is used for exterior filming of the soap opera and makes up the fictional town of Summer Bay!
Located in Northern Sydney approx. 41km from Sydney CBD. Palm Beach sits on a peninsula at the end of Barrenjoey Road, between Pittwater and Broken Bay. Other than exploring the TV set, the long stretch of soft white sand is the perfect place to relax and absorb some warm rays of sunshine on a nice day! The North Palm Beach surf club is an ideal place to sit and enjoy the sweeping ocean views, while the southern end of Palm Beach is more protected for swimming!
If you’re looking for something more active there is a beautiful walk which is a must-do! Although a tiring climb to the top, the Barrenjoey lighthouse hike is a very popular track, as not only do you get to see the infamous light-keepers cottage (featured in the TV show), there is also a spectacular view of Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park and Broken Bay!
After you’ve taken a visit to the lighthouse, captured the ultimate Kodak moment at the summer bay surf club and of course visited Alf’s bait shop, I HIGHLY recommend a trip to the boathouse for some delicious food before hitting the road home! You wont be disappointed as you sample their extensive menu whilst sitting on the oceanfront! #yummy
OntheQT tip: Be sure to arrive to palm beach at sunrise if you wish to see any of the TV stars as they start filming early to avoid the intense heat!
